Maryam is the Arabic form the Hebrew Miriam and the Latin Maria, all them probably deriving from the ancient Egyptian root for love and beloved. In Iran it is also the name of the beautiful plant called tuberose, whose fragrant flowers are used to produce a delicate perfume.
